Welcome to the home of On Point Events UK, the specialist event organiser. On Point Events prides itself on creating events that cater directly for specific markets and industries so that our customers achieve an excellent ROI (Return On Investment) from participating in our events.

On Point Events UK is now hosting a series of fairs created specifically for the educational recruitment market located in different venues all over the UK. These events will be a more informal networking experience for both recruiters and candidates. We are holding this event to help recruiters and employers market them selves effectively and most importantly face to face with potential candidates. Although demand is high for recruiter stand space, we try to limit the amount of space we book in an effort to give recruiters a fair opportunity with every potential candidate that walks through the door.

Our next event is ‘The education & teaching recruitment fair’. Catering for the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire areas. The date of this event is Saturday 30th May 2009 to be held at the…

Rothamsted Conference centre in Harpenden, Hertfordshire From 12pm- 6pm

Please click here for map.

 Who is it for?

We welcome participation from recruitment agencies who are active and hold market share in:

  • the delivery of local education and teaching positions
  • the supply of local supply teachers and teaching support staff
  • Employers and recruiters of the following:
Primary Teachers, Secondary Teachers, Special Needs Teachers, Nursery Nurses, Nursery Assistants, Teaching Assistants, Exam Invigilators, Cover Supervisors

If your sector is not listed here it doesn't mean this isn't the fair for you, please contact us if you have any questions.

The Fair is also open to institutions and training providers whose courses prepare people for employment in these areas.

keep_education

Keep Education has been supplying dedicated, trained teaching staff across Bedfordshire and surrounding areas since 2002. The team is able to draw on a wealth of experience of working education recruitment. A teacher cannot enter Keep Education’s database without being fully vetted and interviewed by one of their highly experienced education consultants.

Keep Education was the first agency in Bedfordshire to be awarded the prestigious Quality Mark standard. This accreditation is issued by DFES (The Department for Education & Skills) as a mark of quality in recruiting and employing supply teachers.

The agency is also a member of the REC (Recruitment & Employment Confederation), exceeding relevant standards.

Supply teachers are issued with strict guidelines to ensure both they and the school get the most out of every placement.

Teachers should:

• Teach where possible, rather than simply supervise
• Use their placement within the school to show how a fresh start with a new member of staff can offer students new opportunities
• Integrate themselves as much as possible within the school, learning names and establishing a rapport with staff and pupils alike

In addition all teachers are required to meet strict standards of quality.

Teachers must:

• Stay fully up-to-date on National Curriculum issues and their subject specialism
• Teach their classes or supervise effectively, as required by the school
• Prepare lessons within the work schedules laid down by the school or teach ready-prepared lessons
• Have relevant and appropriate materials available for use on emergency bookings in the primary sector
• Mark any written work that has been completed by primary classes before leaving at the end of each day
• Mark work in secondary schools (except single day placements)
• Maintain a professional standard of dress
• Behave in a professional manner, abiding at all times by school standards and policies
• Provide break/playground cover where they are replacing a colleague who was scheduled for that duty
• Carry out any reasonable requests made by the school

To get a supply teacher, teaching assistant or register permanent vacancies please contact us on 01582 721510 or info@keepeducation.com

 Advice for Representatives :

Things to consider:
A picture paints a thousand words

Use graphics or a bold display to capture candidates attention! Make your message clear - it will help to attract your target audience to your stand.

Are you approachable?
Don't hide at the back of your stand, stand at the front! Make sure your stand representatives are enthusiastic - are they happy speaking to over 500 potential candidates in one day?

Do your representatives 'know their stuff'?
They are effectively selling your company. Make sure that your representatives are fully briefed and have enough knowledge to answer questions on the day. It would be helpful if they are up-to-date on the vacancies that you are recruiting for; have a thorough knowledge of your website and what it contains; understand the different types of qualifications students may hold; are aware of the International Graduates Scheme and the process of applying for work permits; and most importantly if you are recruiting into technical/specialised roles, make sure you have a representative from this area of the business on your stand - they can provide valuable information that might not easily be found elsewhere. Remember, candidates want to find out as much about you as you do about them - don't just refer them to the company website.

Please don't leave until the end!!
I understand that it has been a long day, that you've been on your feet talking to candidate after candidate - but please don't leave until the end. The Fair is open from 12pm - 6pm to allow as many candidates as possible to attend. The candidate grapevine can be a very powerful tool...please don't leave early.

Questions that candidates may ask you?

  • What type of vacancies does X have?
  • Where are they based?
  • What are the entry requirements?
  • What is the starting salary?
  • What's it like to work for X?
  • What do you look for when you are recruiting into a role?
  • What kind of training and development do new recruits receive?
  • What would a new recruit typically do in the first 12 months?
  • Why did you join X and why do you enjoy working for them?

Note: If you have more than one stand representative please stagger your lunch breaks to ensure full coverage at your stand and to ease congestion at the buffet.
